Stewarding Water for Bergen’s Future
August 28 at the Bergen Hall
Doors open at 6:30 pm Presentation at 7:00
__________________________________________________________________
The focus and format of the upcoming August 28th meeting on water has changed somewhat as we learn more and talk to more of our neighbours,
Thank you for all the ideas and commitment you’re sharing—it shows that we are smarter, stronger, more energized when we work together.

WHY
Water affects all of us to some extent now, but it will become more concerning for our children and grandchildren. They may be able to adapt to water poverty but is that what we want for them?
Many of you have noticed how our wetlands, waterways and groundwater are shrinking and becoming less robust and healthy.
It’s a real concern as we face increasing heat and potential drought, as dugouts dry up and wells pump less water.
WHO
Bergen Voices for Water formed after the community meeting on June 4th, held by the Steering Committee for the Bergen Area Structure Plan (ASP).
We are seven residents who want to protect our diminishing water resources. The meeting on Aug 28 is our first step.
We’ve drafted some ideas to get the discussion started—we invite you to share your concerns and ideas with us at the meeting.
HOW
Water is a provincial responsibility—which means Mountain View County (MVC) must adhere to provincial laws and regulations.
As Bergen residents how do we make our concerns known? Is there anything we can do?
We think one way to signal that we care about water is through the Bergen ASP which is currently under revision. It’s a real opportunity for us to make our concerns—and possible solutions—known to the Steering Committee and ultimately to MVC Council.
ADD YOUR VOICE
We hope that you’ll come to the meeting. Invite your neighbours. Bring your ideas.
